Model Number: JES9860AAB Brand: Jenn-Air Age: 1 - 5 years
Jenn-Air Classic Range 5 YEARS OLD
Model Number JES9860AAB Serial Number 17158809ZS Range keeps giving F1 – 7 error code …. Which means the oven will not function. After a service call it was recommended that we purchase a new Control Panel for $360.00 and Labor of $131.00 to install. Since we can not afford this action I tried to fix it myself. First I did a simple test to determine whether the ERC (Electronic Range Control or Clock) or the touch pad was defective when F1 error code was present. This models does not incorporate the touch pad in to the ERC as a single assembly. Disconnected power to the range by turning the power off to the range at the circuit breaker. Gained access inside the control panel. Disconnected the touch pad ribbon from the ERC. Check to be sure there were no lose wires, or anything else that may cause a short when power was turned back on. Assembled the control panel back the way it was. Turned the power back on. The F1 code came back with it’s beeping sound. I purchased a replacement ERC. AP3503208 (74007226) Clock, w/harness And installed…however…F1 code still remains. Disconnected oven temperature sensor, after finding out the ERC could generate an F1 fault code when the sensor shows 1650 ohms during a time-of-day mode. This still resulted in the now forever F1 code. SO… the oven sensor circuit checks okay, the touchpad/keyboard, does not seem to be the problem. I have installed a new ERC, all the wires are fine……. PLEASE ANY ADVISE….ANY CLUES….THANKSGIVING IS ON THE WAY FAMILY COMING ETC. THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE…. anderseven@aol.com |

Look at the control ribbon coming out of the clock with a magnifier. Are there any creases? Try gently flexing the ribbon while it is installed to see if anything changes. I squished mine when I installed the new clock and caused several breaks in the printed circuits on the ribbon. You asked for any clues. Here is one.
