Model Number: JSP38GT1BB Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
Our GE oven started acting up about 6 months ago. When preheating, it would reach the temperature and both elements just kept running. I would shut the oven off and reset and then it would reach correct temperature and operate fine. A few weeks ago, it started cutting itself off about 3 times while trying to bake. The next day, we noticed that the bake element was in two pieces. What all probably needs replacing and is it really worth it since the oven is so old?

The Bake element has to be replaced. No doubt about it. There is a chance for the control board to be bad too. In that case the cost of repair (if you do it yourself) is going to be about $230 - $240. Your decision should be based on the condition of the unit and price for a new one.
- The part number for the Bake element is AP2030968 - The part number for the control board is AP2025145 Gene.
