Default whirlpool oven small explosions, cooktop ignitor
Model Number: gs395legb0   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 5 - 10 years

The oven makes whooshing, small explosions when baking. I don't really know how the oven works but it seems to shut off for short periods and then when the heat drops so low it lights the gas again. This is the time when I hear the noise. The cooktop is gas sealed burners. The left front burner does not ignite. I hear the clicking sound but no spark. I can light the burner with a match. Are these problems an average handyman can fix or should I call a repair man? Would it be as cheap to replace the whole range? Any help is appreciated.

How is the temperature in the oven? Does it take longer time to heat up?

Check the igniter for the Left front burner. If the ceramic part of the igniter cracked? If yes, then the igniter has to be replaced.

Gene.

The oven seems to heat fine. I haven't checked the temp but everything seems to cook ok.

Did you check the burner igniter?
