Default GE Oven - Which limit switch is one time thermal switch(two are close on diagram)
Model Number: JGSP28SEK4SS   Brand: GE   Age: 1 - 5 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

I have a GE oven with no power at the control panel. I was able to get it power up by termporaly bypassing what I belive is the 'one time thermal switch.' As per as wire diargram it trips at a 250F limit is reached. Oven stopped working after a self cleaning cycle. Not sure why things got too hot but this seems like the likely curprit, as per the wire diargram this is the ony 'fuse'

If the diagram there appears to be two limit switches in the same area

Cooling fan replacement parts for General Electric JGSP28SEK4SS Gas range | AppliancePartsPros.com

Parts are 157 and 158. It looks like 157 as it sits on a bracket just like the picture. but this switch is all the way in the front. What makes it more fun is one switch is $3.00 and one $25.

My switch has these numbers on it 311825, 60FX24, 205C2935, 0714 P001

Anyone have any experience with this one time limit sensor?

Default

in my case it was the more expensive switch so no big deal if you bought both... To get to switch you need to remove the stainless(in my case) part that is under the knobs and houses the display.
1. Remove burner knobs
2. Remove the small nuts under knobs
3. Open oven door - Inside the oven on the top(under the burner knobs) you see a few(2 or 3) sliver hex head screws. Remove them. You dont need to remove the black screws.
4. On the side metal where the burner knobs there are two torex screws(one one each side). Remove them.
5. You should then be able to live that part off. I think it tilts foward. The switch I replaced was toward the front left.
