I appreciate the answer and diagram, but my star burners definitely will not accept a socket to remove. it looks li a special tool is needed as there are two "keyways" on opposite sides of where the nut is in your pictures.Thank you Mine is a PCS364Glus

If this nut looks like the one on the following picture

then you need the burner ring tool.

- The burner ring tool Part number: AP3393645

Hello,
Thermador created a spanner wrench that was built specifically for the original star burner units (PCS and PRDS), though it will also work on many other Thermador cooktops and ranges. The current part number is 488414. However, if you don't feel like dropping $100+ on a part that you may only use a few times, you can open up a crescent wrench wide enough to fit into the two notches and use another wrench to turn it.

Hi, I tried to loosen the nut on top of my star burner with a socket and ratchet but it did not come loose. It only twisted the inner assy. and flexible gas line. I turned it counter clockwise. Am I missing somthing?

I'm having the same problem
Followed the instructions and likely twisted the ignitor connector off by trying to loosen the her nut.
Now burner doesn't spark
This.is not how.to remove star burner, at least not for the 48" range with grill/griddle

Please advise..
