Default Caloric Gas Even slow to Ignite & heat up
Model Number: RST376   Brand: Caloric   Age: More than 10 years

You can smell gas rather strong before the even ignites, and then it take 5 - 10 - 15 minutes or more before the Temp., starts to increase. I have no idea what componet needs replaced, if this is an igniter or gas value issue. The primary appliance replair shop does not service this brand. Any advice would be appreciated.

sounds like more than one issue. start by visualy checking the ignitor, look for a white or ashy spot. if so this is one likely problem. you might also check for a faulty gas valve (use a non-cumbustable light source) if the smell is Very strong use a leak detector (cheapest version of this is regular dish soap and water). look for the bubbles. may be just a loose gas connector. if not you may want to replace the gas valve

Hi Dwbradley

Are we talking about bake or broil modes?

If the problem is with the bake then most likely the igniter is bad and has to be replaced.

If the problem is with broil then I would inspect the broil burner first for any size of holes in the net. Replace the burner if you found one. The igniter for the broil burner has to be replaced in any way.

The igniters for the bake and for the broil are the same. You have to use the bracket from the old igniter.

- The part number for the new igniter AP2934763

- The part number for the broil burner AP55224

- Here are the break down diagrams for the Caloric range Model RST376

Good luck.
Gene.
