GE oven doesn't heat

Our 13 year old GE XL 44 oven wont heat. Had a repair guy look at it and told us it was a bad "dayglow" device (?), not the electronic igniter that I guessed. $300 to repair. I declined and paid the service call (about $40). Any advice on whether I was being taken to the cleaners, or is the repair typically this much?

Sounds like he didn't know what he was doing, but need the complete model # to help.

Could be 317B6034 taken from a tag located on inside face of oven door. Repar person removed the door, and flat panel separating main oven compartment and igniter. Looked like he used a device to detect voltage. Then explained that it was some sought of dayglow (?) device , not the electronic igniter, hence the price of $300 to repair. Sounds fishy to me.

Does this oven have an electronic display that controls the oven. Still need a good model#

Where would I find the serial number? it does have an electronic display for controls of the oven.
