Jenn Air Grill Element
Model Number: CVEX4370 Brand: Jenn-Air Age: 1 - 5 years
I recently purchased a new element for the grill because one side of the old one did not heat appropriately. I assumed it was going bad. I installed the new one (this is where it gets confusing) and it does not heat correctly. It heats opposite the old one. Also the downdraft fan does not work with the new element in place. It makes a humming noise. If I put the old element in, the fan works fine. Any ideas or suggestions appreciated.

Remove the element and test the recepticles on both sides. Tell us what voltages you're getting.

I tested the recepticles and the left one was 110V, the right did not read anything. The funny thing is that the right side heats up. I still do not understand why the fan does not run as it use to when turning the grill on. With the old element, the fan will run as it should. I also checked the continuity of the element and it was intact.

I think you may have a bad switch.

I replaced the switch. Still not working. Is it possible the fan switch is bad and causing this problem?

There is a leg of the element receptacle that goes through the fan switch. Here's a link to the wiring diagram. Does the fan also not work?
