![]() Model Number: jds9860aap Brand: Jenn-Air Age: 1 - 5 years
![]() I can not plug the stove into a usual socket. The power cord on the stove has a female plastic end piece with 4 entry points. Is there a special attachment I need to have to make the electrical connection for the stove? Or can I cut the existing end piece and attach a normal plug? Thank you for your help. ![]() New wiring codes are 4 wire L1, L2, Neutral and Earth Ground
Old wiring was L1, L2, Neutral and Earth Ground were the same I would check the wiring in the electrical box just to make sure the place is not 4 wire and a 3 connector plug was installed because that is what was on an old stove. If this is the case install a 4 connector receptacle. If the house wiring is 3 wire you have two choices 1. Buy a new cord and install it on the stove. You must then connect a ground strap from the Neutral wire to the stove frame inside the stove. Here is the tech sheet http://www.servicematters.com/maytag...s/16026780.pdf The above is probably the preferred method. The ground strap may even be in the unit, just not connected to the frame. 2. Install a new 4 conductor receptacle and short using 8 gauge wire the Neutral and Earth ground in the receptacle. Code will probably frown on this as it gives the false impression that it is a 4 wire hookup. I would check the local electrical code as to which is acceptable. They may require that you upgrade the wiring. Here is the install directions for your unit http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/asse...101P534-60.pdf Here is some additional info http://www.applianceaid.com/electric.html
