Model Number: PLES389ECC Brand: Frigidaire Age: 1 - 5 years
Well I managed to replace the glass cooktop thanks to your help! I found two purple wires with a round plastic "plug like" end that was hanging loose when I was disassembling the control panel in the front of the stove (right side). I don't know if I dislodged it or it was plugged into something and popped off. When I reassembled the control panel after installing the glass cooktop, I couldn't find a place to plug it into.... so I left it as is. I did have to remove and reinstall the green ground screw while removing the cooktop. When I plugged the stove back in the plug sparked and blew the breaker. I tried again after resetting breaker and it blew again. Should I take everything apart again? What could cause this. The stove was working fine before I replaced the glass. I don't think I did anything wrong. Please help me again!!

Baysedge, I'm pretty sure, you're going to need to take it apart again. Based on the description, spark at outlet, breaker tripped as soon as plugged in/ breaker reset, Tells me, you've got a direct short to ground, you may have pinched a wire or got your connectors crossed when you re assembled and installed the cook top. As for a two, purple wire connector, I can't find it in the wiring diagram for your unit. but there are a couple of possibilities, (diagrams aren't always exact). You may need to trace them back to the component they attach to, and go from there. I've attached and parts diagram and wiring information, I acquired and hope it can help both of us. http://manuals.frigidaire.com/prodin...5995455051.pdf
