Question What part(s) do I need to repair upper oven door
Model Number: RBD245PDB12   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 1 - 5 years

Howdy,

Based on the schematics provided on:

http://parts.infoaccessipl.com/iplim...X/5XJJS84W.png

and the pics attached, what part number (on schematic) do I need?

FYI - The door itself works well. It's just the glass window that is facing the interior of the oven that's cracked.

Here's the part number for the glass (Glass, inner ) which is #3 on the breakdown.

Here's the complete parts breakdown
Model RBD245PDB12

Question

Howdy Nat,

Thank you for the prompt reply.

Another question. . . .

Is it just a matter of unscrewing a few screws on the door assembly, then setting the "new" glass window, and then screwing down the screws????

Or is it more complex than that (i.e. removing adhesive and then applying adhesive to glass window, some additional gasket, etc. . . . )?

Thanks!!!

Most of the time you don't need to replace the gaskets unless the oven has been used a lot with the glass cracked.

It has been used quite a bit with the glass window cracked. What gasket(s) should I purchase? And is it simple to install with the gaskets? Does it require any adhesive?

Lastly, based on the schematics, is part #3 a glass window that is heat resistant? (I ask because the "cracked" glass window is the one that is in direct contact with the inside of the oven.)

FYI - I'm ignorant regarding ovens and their repair. Hence the questions.

Thank you!

I looked at the breakdown again and your unit doesn't have any additional gaskets only the retainer, might be a good idea to go ahead and get that too. Just to be on the safe side.

Question

So to be sure I understand your recommendations correctly:

Purchase part #3 on the schematic (i.e. glass window)

AND

the RETAINER, correct?

If so, what part # is the retainer in that schematic?

Thank you!!!
