Pull the heating element out, disconnect the wires from the heating element and check for 120 VAC between each wire and ground. Post the results. Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool oven Model RB120PXK1Gene.

Gene quick question, you said to pull the heating element out this is the lower element i just replaced ? because when i pulled it out there is only one red wire connected to each end of the heating element i did not see any ground wire i assume that would be green?. or will the oven need to be taken out of the wall cabinet to find the ground wire? what instrument would i use to check for 120 VAC (what does VAC mean) novice at this but can learn and on a very tight budget and need oven to make xmas dinner, appreciate your help and patience Pixie1

1. Yes. 2. "ground" means any metal part (not painted) of the oven body. The whole oven must be connected to ground at the power outlet or junction box. 3. You have to have a simple multimeter with ability to measure resistance and power. Read about meters in the article on our forum: How To Check Continuity With Ohmmeter 4. VAC stands for "Volts of alternating current". Gene.

Gene sorry I have not gotten back to you but we have had svere weather here in indiana and my computer would not work, anyway I pulled the heat element to check the vac and the clip on the element was not connected the clip was loose and must have come loose when I inserted it back into the hole of the oven last time and cannot see the wire after it is back through the hole, anyway I cut both off and put new ones on reconnected the element and the oven worked great I tested the temp with thermometer and it was right on, she has been working just great. thanks again for your help. Happy Holidays to you
