Model Number: 12001617 Brand: Maytag Age: More than 10 years
Dear Mr. Pro,
In The Last Couple Of Weeks, The Ecu Got Dimmer And Eventually Started Blinking But The Range Worked Properly. It Was Hard To See The Temperature. I Checked The Ecu Hoping There Was A Bulb I Could Replace...no Such Luck. When I Replaced The Same Ecu It Was Brighter For A Short Time But It Didn't Last. A Few Days Later, I Could Not See The Oven Temprature On The Ecu And Then The Oven Would Not Turn Off, It Took About A Half Hour. My Wife Called The Fire Department! I Believe I Need The Ecu But Want To Make Sure It Is This Part. Is There Anything I Should Check Before Purchasing This Part-the Ecu (12001617?) Thanks For Your Help. Here is the parts
Part number: AP4008554 You did not include a model number so I cannot say if you will also need an overlay. If I understand you correctly you have already replaced the control board once and it only lasted a couple days. Is this the case? If this is the case the replacement control board should still be under warranty.

Here are your parts, includes a wiring daigram.
Replacement parts for MAYTAG CHG9800BAE RANGE- S/C S/I GAS | AppliancePartsPros.com This one is going to be a pain and I cannot find any other tech info on it, not even a better copy of the wiring diagram. The problem is that it looks like the transformer that supplies power to the clock assembly is on a relay board (Item 25 in Section 5). If this transformer should fail it could also give the symptoms you list. I do not have any info on what the output voltage from the relay board should be. The clock assembly would still be at the top of my list but without more info and further testing this is just a guess. This may be a job for a pro.

Dear Denman,
Thank you for your suggestions. While waitimg for a response I asked one of your sales people Curtis, ext. 2012 if there was anything I could do in the meantime so we could have dinner that night. He said a tech might say to clean the connections. Please tell his supervisors that he was one of the most patient, helpful and courteous salespeople I have ever delt with and on top of that he helped fix my range. I cleaned the terminal connections / contacts - the prongs and plugs on the clock assembly and transformer relay board and guess what??? It's working for now. Neither part looked dirty...the first time I took it apart I did remove the plugs on the clock assembly but did not clean-lightly buff the prongs on the clock assembly and transformer/relay board. I am feeling lucky...I hope it last. Rich |
