While attempting to test whether the ignitor for the top oven on my Maytag gas range was getting power, I shorted the wire leading from the thermal valve to the ignitor. It blew the breaker. Now I have no power from the thermal valve to the ignitor. I'm pretty sure I must have fried the bimetal switch (or whatever it's called) that opens the thermal valve. The broiler and the lower oven still work perfectly. This particular Maytag model has a triple thermal valve and costs well over $200. Is there a possibility to rebuild the fried thermal valve by replacing the bimetal part?
