Default Thermadore GCV36G Won't Stop Clicking when Burner Is Lit and Running
Model Number: GCV36G   Brand: Thermador   Age: More than 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
My parents have a Thermadore cooktop that is malfunctioning. The back two burners won't stop clicking even when they are lit and running. We kids are thinking of getting them a new cooktop, but the cost, logistics, style and possible counter top fit led us to think that perhaps we should just try to get it fixed instead.

Problem is, they live in a small town and we don't know if we can find a technician who we can trust to come and do a good job. So I am hoping to find some suggestions here first that we can use to determine if it's worth the effort of getting it fixed... and to give us some semblance of a clue as to what the problem might be *before* we speak to a tech.

My dad says the model number is GCV36GS, but all the similar units I have seen online have been listed as GCV36G without the extra "S" at the end. I think I have found the right diagrams at AppliancePartsPros:

Model GCV36G

But not sure where to even begin. Can anyone give us a clue as to the possible causes/solutions to this clicking. My dad is kinda deaf so he doesn't care but it is driving my mom CRAZY!

Most likely the problem is a bad (shorted) ignition switches for these burners. Unfortunately these parts are no longer available due to age of the product. If your mom does not care, you can unplug the stove from the outlet and she could use it with a lighter (at least until you will get a new one).

Default Thank you Gene!

Thank you so much Gene! This forum is lucky to have the benefits of your experience and generosity.

If we can find an older unit, would it be possible for a repairman to swap out the broken parts on our current system? Even if they are not a "Thermadore" repairman?

Also, if I can find the unit without the ventilator, can that be swapped in with the existing ventilator? Or are they connected and forced to be moved as a unit?

Again, I really, really appreciate your help. I didn't really know where else to turn.

Sorry for the delay.
1. Any experienced technician can do it.

2. As far as I can see from the break down diagrams there are two separate units: the cooktop and the exhaust fan. If the size of the cooktop you will find will match up with the existing, it should work for you.

Gene.

Default Replacement for Thermador GCV36G

I have the same stove. The only replacement stove with a similar width is a Kuppensbusch. If you can make the cutout for the stove top wider you have many choices.
