Default Modern Maid PHU201 help Needed!1
Model Number: PHU201   Brand: Modern Maid   Age: More than 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
Hello everyone, first time of the forum, and I'd appreciate some help.
I had to replace the ribbon cable that goes from the digital timer/meter down to the circuit board in the back and can not figure out how to get the cook top off in order to put the two screws out that were sitting behind the cooktop and that are attached by the chrome sides and the faceplate. This is the screws that keep the faceplate tight to the cooktop!
There must be some trick to removing the cook top in order to replace the ignitors etc.
I hope that expains it,any help would be really appreciate for now the gap is to wide and would fill up with stuff quickly
Ken

Hi Ken,

In order to remove the top panel you have to remove the burner caps and the screws, secured the burner die casts to the burner bottoms.

Here are the break down diagrams for the Modern Maid range Model PHU201UK

Gene.

Default Burner Caps!

Hello Gene, thanks very much for posting a reply, I really appreciate the help.
So if I can get a little clarity, I remove the burner caps, take the one screw out, but I can't get the burner to move, do you unscrew it ,I can't figure it out, or it's kind of secured itself to the round air port in the middle.
Thanks
Ken Gold

Hi Gene, I'll take a few pictures of the stove top tonight without the burner caps on and post them, for you to see, and possibly help me.
I was able to get the timer/clock repaired with a new ribbon cable and installed, but for the life of me, can't figure out how to get the top off, so I can properly secure the face plate to the stove top.
Much appreciated.

Hi Gene, here's a few photos of the stove and one close-up of the burner.
There is a screw in the middle of the burner but if you take it out, you still don't get any movement of the oven top.
Any help would be much appreciated
Ken

Remove this screw. Spray WD-40 between the burner and venturi (put something like a paper towel into the venturi to prevent from WD-40 leaking inside). Using a putty knife (better two form both sides) gently lift the burner up.

Check for a locking clips in the front or on sides of the top panel. If there are any, push them in using a putty knife and lift the top panel up from the front.

Gene.
