Default GE Profile Oven Heat up Too Fast and shuts off
Model Number: JT915S0F1SS   Brand: GE   Age: 1 - 5 years

Our oven is a GE Profile. It is a wall oven with Convection and Bake.

When you preheat the oven, the broiler comes on, I don't think it is supposed to do that. The oven then starts to heat rapidly, I mean real fast.

A few degrees per second. The oven then reaches temperature, the gauge stops at the desired temp.

Then a few minutes later the oven shuts itself off and whatever was in it burns. The broiler remains on the whole time this is taking place.

As a precaution I replaced the temperature sensor. This did not help.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

In PREHEAT the BROIL DOES come on, It should heat rather quickly, The oven should then cycle on and off. Set the oven to 350, let it cycle a MINIMUM of 3cycles, Then check the temp. If using a CHEAP Grocery Store thermostat, Let it go for 20min. before checking the temp. If its off more than 35 degrees Replace the EOC and the sensor!!! If its off less than 35, Read the BOOK, It will show you how to AJUST the temp.

Default The problem is

The problem I am having though is that it is heating up very fast to 350. Then it stops and shuts itself down,do to the tempature being too high.

Is this the same problem you are speaking of. I cant take the temp because it overheats and shuts itself off.

Also I cant find the manual

Thanks so much for taking the time to help

You may have a cooling fan that cools the control, if it overheats it will shut down, I would have a PRO look at it!!!
