Hi!
My Amana stove (ACS3350AS) has an electronic control unit that's on its way out. I would love to find a used one (they don't make them any longer), buy it from someone who would no longer use it (because it's broken). It does not need to be working, I'll use the parts to salvage mine. The part number is 31944801. Respond in this thread, or email me at ripngo at gmail dot com

Well, I went ahead and filed a complaint with the BBB, given that Amana has been 100% un-helpful in this matter.
I would encourage anybody with the same issue to send a complaint to the BBB. My complaint number is 37028113 in case that's useful.

There are companies out there that fix obsolete appliance timers and controls.
Just do a Google.

Since you are willing to buy a blown board I assume that you know what parts need replacing, have you tried just sourcing the parts?

Yes I'm aware of the people who will fix your board. My board is semi-functional, but what needs replacing is the plastic housing around the board, which has become very brittle, and is no longer holding the board in place (so pushing the buttons no longer works). I would have a hard time finding a replacement for this, unless it came from another board...

Hopefully someone will have an old board/housing for you.

If not you will have to do a jiggery pokery to hold the board in place.
It is hard to be helpful here without actually being there as I am not sure what is moving.

Perhaps you can epoxy it in, though epoxy often will not hold to plastic reliably so you may also have to install a couple screws for the epoxy to grab onto.
Perhaps a couple zip ties.
Perhaps a couple screws/bolts, problem here is trying to keep away from anything that could short out.

In any case if you cannot get a new housing the unit is toast so you have nothing to loose giving it a shot.

That's what I've done so far, kludge it with zip ties etc. But it's in a sorry state, and I still have a bad contact problem: the oven will fire up to 430F as asked to, but then drop back to 250F all the while indicating 430F. When you next bang the door or bang near the control panel, after a few seconds, the temp shows 250F and the over starts again. This seems like a bad temperature circuit (a bad contact somewhere). Unfortunately, the unit is so damaged (some of the plastic harnesses have nearly melted) that it's a pain to fix... I'm ready to bite the bullet a buy another range, I'm so fed up with fixing this thing over and over without getting to a satisfactory point...

Yes I have to agree with you that it is probably time for a new unit.
It sounds like this unit was not well designed and the area where the board is just heated up too much over the years.

You're 100% right! The original flaw was the door, which buckled a long time ago due to a design flaw. This in turns prevented a good seal at the top of the door, and the top front of the stove would then become extremely hot, causing all sort of damage to the central unit (which is located right there!). I have read in forums people complaining that they burned themselves by touching the metal area above the door... Bad design...
THe problem is, what's a reliable brand that will not cost $4000??? It's a bit depressing to see that spending over $1000 on a gas range does not guarantee that you'll be satisfied with your purchase...
