My oven which is just over 1 year old works perfect except while using the bottom oven it does not regulate the temperature being programed. No matter what we program the Temp to be it gets very very hot. Even when programming it for only 170 degrees.

Does the smaller oven over heat too?
If so the temp sensor is probably bad, part Part Details - MAYTAG Sensor, ovn / long elec., part number: 12001656

If the temp is as far off as you are saying, it will most likely be the control board. You could try the sensor, but the differential in the setting of the temp, and actual temp sound very far apart. Tom ********************************************

Thanks to everyone that responded however, I tested the sensors but no joy. Looks like we are going out to eat for the holidays nonetheless
(kayakcrzy) I believe you are right in reference to the control board, do you by any chance know how much that runs (Model MER6755AAS). Thanks again for everything.

Everywhere I checked it is $165-$175. But I checked this website, and it said it was $104.99. I question that, because, I can buy that part, at a place where I get some unbelievable pricing, and that is really cheap. Call them to be sure. The part # is 74009992. If so, get it from here. Have a great Thanksgiving anyway. Think of the bright spot here. No mess to clean up. You know 8 hours of cooking, and eaten in thirty minutes. Tom ********************************************
