I am replacing the thermostat with Appliance Parts Pros part # 8185982 that does not go in the same way. I needed to flip it upside down in order for the temperature knob to correspond with the setting on the front panel.
There are two orange wires that need to be connected. There are no markings or code on the new part. On the old thermostat there was a connection on the top (long orange wire that runs to the back of the unit - maybe to the temp prob) and to the left side(at the 10 o'clock position) a shorter orange wire that was hooked up to a series of wires - #1 yellow that becomes a black and is hooked to the power lamp,#2 a blue that leads to the timer over ride on/off switch, and #3 a tan one that leads to the timer. On the new switch the connections are on the same side.
Conventional wisdoms says I should reverse the order but want to make sure do I don't blow the part up. Or does it matter which wire goes to which terminal. Thank you.
