Model Number: MEW5530DDB Brand: Maytag Age: 1 - 5 years
The "BAKE" button on my over doesnt work. everything else works except BAKE. I have gone throu troubleshooting with MAYTAG customer service and turning off/on the power didnt help. I have disconnected the diplay board and the black controler box and check for proper connection and still no BAKE operation.
Should i replace the display board for $130.00 or the black cuircut board controler for $155.00?????????????????? Just dont want to waist $130 - $160 on part i may not need. Thank you for your time. DEE Ads By Google Related Models |

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for MEW5530DDB models | AppliancePartsPros.com I cannot find a pin-out for the control panel (keypad) so it cannot be checked easily. To check it you would have to figure which ribbon cable is for the operation keys. Then check every combination of pin out with every key and also do this using both meter polarities. To confirm that pushing the bake does not cause a corresponding closure at the pin out. Just a tad time consuming and complicated. From your post I am assuming that all buttons work but the "bake". Without actually checking it which part it is is a crap shoot. Does the bake key feel any different than the other keys when you push it? If you have the time then I would probably order the control panel (keypad) first. With Xmas upon us you may not have the time to play with the unit. You could try the following cleaning procedure. In this case I do not have a lot of confidence that this will help as most keypads are a matrix so a bad connection will usually kill more than one key. Connector Cleaning / Checking Unplug the unit Open it up Remove the ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board at the control board. Clean the edge connector. If it is the type where there is not a connector just the insulation is removed, it can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Do not use an ink eraser as it is too abrasive. Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks. A magnifying glass helps here. Would not hurt to clean the connector on the board. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Be gentle and do not reconnect till all the solvent evaporates. Reconnect everything and give it a try. Since you have done a fair amount of troubleshooting you could order a control panel from AppliancePartsPros. If it does not fix your problem then you could return it and order the control board. See their return policy.
