Hi All,
New member, occasional lurker; first post.
I have a GE cooktop, model PP945BMBB, and only the inner coil works on the 8" dual element (PowerBoil). The indicator light still comes on so I assume it is the element itself; does that sound right?
I went to order a new element but the GE parts site lists two variations of this cooktop, the PP945BM1BB and the PP945BM2BB. Each has a different part # for the burner in question, WB30T10118 and WB30T10131, as well as a price difference ($106 and $92.50, respectively).
My cooktop only has PP945BMBB for a part #; does that mean it's the "1" version and they did not add the extra digit to the PN until Version 2 came out?
Does anyone know the difference between the two model #s, and between the two part #s?
Thanks in advance for any help!

I called GE and asked them. The CSR told me the parts were the same so I ordered the WB30T10131 because it was a bit less $$.
The part arrived and I pulled the cooktop apart; not a hard job at all. Turns out the two parts are NOT the same because the one they sent me was a bit smaller than the original.
There are some additional mounting holes for the brackets and support pins so I considered trying to make it work, but before I started messing with that I took a close look at the original element itself. The conducting ribbon appears to be embedded in some kind of clay, and it appeared that two adjacent rows had come loose and shorted out on each other.
I separated the two rows, joined the ends correctly and crimped them together. Reassembled and reinstalled and, to my amazement, it worked!
GE was kind enough to send a return shipping tag for me to send the part back and the upshot is I fixed the whole thing myself! Of course, my repair to the element may not be a long-term fix (it's already been 2 weeks!) but if I do need to really replace the element at least I know the right one to order now!
