I ordered a new burner for my gas stove. I thought the old one was bad when I removed it due to 2 splits on the underside of the burner. The new one I received from you has 1 split on the underside. This may be the way it is made. Anyway,the problem I have is that the flame comes on sometimes and then it may go out and it takes a real long time to light. Now the igniter stays on all the time. Sometimes when the oven is set on 400 the igniter comes on and no flame for a long time and then you can smell gas in the kitchen. The stove is old but I would like to repair if possible.

the splits is how the gas flows to both sides put a clampon amp probe and see what it draws the ignitor should always stay on even when it's lit. so if it goes out again it will relite

HOW MANY AMPS SHOULD IT BE DRAWING? i WILL CHECK IT TONIGHT AND IF ITS DRAWING THE CORRECT AMOUNT WHERE DO WE NEED TO GO THEN?

Something i failed to mention is sometimes when you turn on the oven and the igniter comes on and glows. Not everytime but you smell gas odor in the kitchen.

My guess would be the ignitor isn't hot enough to light the gas.
