Oven Repair (including Ranges and Cooktops)

I have a problem last week my lower element blew out I replaced it but now it over heats and when I turn on broil the lower element only comes on about to loose it or buy a new range help....

what doyou think the problem is dont want to spend money uselessely could it be i purchesed the wrong element it was marked 240v 2500w
