Long time reader, first time poster. After about 15 seconds, oven thinks it's pre heated, say to 400 degrees. Sometimes will work if you put it all the way to 500, but that is getting old. Would it be the oven temp sensor on this maytag model? I've read other posts that say sensor should be 1100 ohms, but where is the sensor located? I'm electrically inclined, but have never worked on a stove.

If you don't want to take the back off the oven, look at the sensor (probably in the top left of the oven. It is a small tube that is about 6 inches long. There should be two screws holding it to the back wall of the oven. They will be a bit rusty, but should be easy to loosen. Take them out, and gently pull the wire attached to the sensor through the hole. Once the connector comes through, disconnect it and check with your meter. Should be 1000-1100 ohms. Takes about 10 minutes to pull, test and replace. Taking the back cover off the oven will take longer, and you will still have to take the probe out from inside the oven.
