Hello, first timer here. I have a jenn air convection and everything works fine except the display. It randomly goes from dim to black. I am an electrician who's fairly competent, and would like to fix this at a reasonable price. For example, if it is a capacitor, I would lile to replace it, and not a $175 board. Any ideas or help?

Thanks

Niki1,

It's not a capacitor, or an inexpensive part.

It could be :

A bad relay board.(most likely)

A loose wire in the J4 harness. (least likely)

A weak circuit in the display(clock). (2nd likeliest).

Part number: AP4098257
Part number: AP4098257

Part number: AP4090010
Part number: AP4090010

Display Circuit Explanation

Relay board on the J1 connector sends 12 VDC for the display and 20 VAC for the mini relays on the ERC(clock) through the 4 wire J1 ribbon harness.

ON the relay board, pin 1 to pin 2 should be the 12VDC circuit for the display and pin 3 to 4 is the 20VAC for the mini relays.

Check for the voltages at the clock end of the harness if you have the voltage, you've got a bad ERC(clock) if the voltage is low or not there, you've got a bad relay board, or loose wire.

I think you'll have it diagnosed and repaired in no time.

Good Luck.
