Magic Chef Glo lighter element stays on
Model Number: 9112VPV Brand: Magic Chef Age: More than 10 years
My oven has been unplugged for a year ever since i noticed the GLO tube element would not turn off. We don't bake much but I am in the mood for a Turkey this year.
This is my first day doing some research on the internet after getting the model number so excuse me if this issue is covered somewhere, I will keep looking. I am not sure how old the oven is..it came with the house. I want to try and repair my oven if i can since like i said we don't bake much so a new one is not in my budget right now. The problem is the Glo tube or element that lights the oven(gas built in) will not turn off. side notes : my control knob has always been very stiff or hard to turn but I don't know if that is related. I was wondering the best way to get started in trouble shooting this issue. thx in advance. Ads By Google Related Models

Your igniter is in series with the oven safety valve and the thermostat. I would suspect a stuck contact in the thermostat.
