Default how to open the oven door after self cleaning ?
Model Number: KGSA906   Brand: Kitchen Aid   Age: 1 - 5 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

The self cleaning was turned in then I left, came back to find the oven door locked and no information on the digital display. I switched off the breaker for a few minutes hoping it would reset itself---nothing.
I'm assuming the master board wiped out, no big deal its happened before but I can't open the oven door to get to the master board.

How can I open the oven door ?, Is there a release for the lock or is there a trick to release the door lock ?

You can raise the top. (Do Not Do This Without First Disconnection The Stovetop Burners), or you will damage the gas lines and have to replace them. Then the door latch will be exposed. An alternate method is to manipulate the latch through one of the vents above the door.

The picture of the latch is not exactly accurate but close, so your saying by dismantling the gas burners the top of the cooktop is removeable so you can get to the latch from the top ?

Yes. that should give you access to the latch. But before you do that, look into one of the vents and see if you can see it. You'll save a lot of work if you can manipulate it from the outside.

Default More Questions

I managed to open the oven door thank you, changed out the master board thinking that would solve the problem and nothing.

A departing tenant set the slf cleaning function and moved out, I go in a few days later and find no lights or status on the digital display and the oven door locked, thinking that the self cleaning tripped or fried something I swop the master board (I had one from the month before) and still nothing.
What would be your guess or plan of attack ?

I appreciate your help.

Start at the outlet and see where the unit stops getting power. You need to see if you're getting 120VAC all the way up to the main control board.
