Broiler igniter comes on and burns bright. Gas enters the broiler element, ignites, but is very low, like valve has not completely opened. Oven element is working fine.

Most likely the problem is a weak igniter. If you need the part number, post the complete model number please.

I guess I am confused. The igniter is glowing bright and the gas is igniting, but is like barely on. Would a weak igniter cause this? Model is Maytag CRG9700BALL it is set to work with propane.

Thanks!

You can learn how the igniter works from one of our previous posts: http://forum.appliancepartspros...1897-oven-wont-lite.html

In your case the current drawn by the igniter is about 3.2 amps, causing the gas valve not to open completely.

- The part number for the igniter is AP205873

Here are the break down diagrams for the Maytag range Model CRG9700BAL

Well I replaced the igniter and the problem is still the same, broiler lights, but stays on a very low setting, like ti valve has not opened all of the way. What do I check next?

Remove the Broil burner. Unscrew the orifice and clean it. Assemble it back and adjust the flame by slowly turning the orifice.

If it would not help then replace the gas valve.

- The part number for the gas valve is AP4098213

Thanks - I'll give her a try. I am pretty sure we replaced the gas valve last year when we were having problems with the lower (baking) element. Hopefully a good cleaning will do the trick!
