Error F1 F7

Model Number: JES9860AAb Brand: Jenn-Air Age: 1 - 5 years

Error F1 & F7 require that to check ERC clock I remove the ribbon between control panel and ERC clock. I cant separate the ribbon at the black junction and wonder if there is some type of clasp on the clock where ribbon inserts that is preventing me from withdrawing the control panel ribbon from the ERC. I don't want to pull it too hard.
