Model Number: PHU101-UK Brand: Modern Maid Age: More than 10 years
We just bought a place with a Modern Maid stove (PHU101-UK MN=01). It looks like it has a downdraft vent at the top back. However, I can't find any switch to turn it on. Is the vent supposed to turn on automatically? Please help. Thanks!

That isn't a downdraft vent, it is a vent for the oven. A gas oven needs oxygen to burn, so there is a constant flow of air through the oven. When using the oven, you'll notice heat at this vent, so be careful with anything near the vent (and be sure not to block it).
