Model Number: 8720ED Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years
Ceramic cooktop has two ceramic plug in units - one on the right, with front and rear heating elements, and one on the left with front and rear heating elements. When left rear switch is turned on, both front and rear left side elements are activated. Acts like the "grill element shunt" is being activated, turning on both elements as if the grill (instead of the two burner ceramic cooktop) was plugged in. Never have owned the "grille" accessory. Problem only occurs on left side of unit. Question: Anyone had similar problem before? What activates this shunt, is it replaceable, and how can I access it for service. THANKS in advance for the help!
