bought a new home and turned the self cleaning oven feature on. the oven got so hot that it melted the edges of the surrounding cabinets. it is a jenn aire down draft
located in an island. any suggestions?

i think i would either call the manufactor of the home and see what they can do for you since its probaly in the contract . they might replace it along with the cabinets. or call the manufactor of oven and ask them what to do since their oven almost caused a fire there might be a recall on that one if so any damages like the melted cabinets they will pay for and fix it.

I would ignore Feisty's comments. You have a bad clean thermostat on the back wall of the oven. I would get a pro to look at it.

I personally think the advice richappy gave is the best possible advice for this oven. Could this be the perfect example of the pot calling the kettle black? i'm not seeing any indication that he's being childish - just trying to give the best advice possible. if thats childish then they really need to update the dictionary
