Unhappy Jenn-Air JED8430 dual switch replacement
Model Number: JED8430   Brand: Jenn-Air   Age: 5 - 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

The Dual Switch for the front right burner on my JED8430 cooktop needs replacing. Ordered new switch and it's totally different than the one I have now.

The old switch is connected as follows:
Dual Rose wire: #5
Single Red wire: #4
Orange wire: #1
Dual Black wire: #2
White wire: #3
Yellow wire: #6

The new switch has P1, P2, 2, S1, S2, 4, 4a

Please tell me how to correctly wire the new switch. Thank you,
Wayne

Wayne,

Yes your new switch is completely different than the original.

You should have recieved an Instruction and wiring information sheet with the kit.

This may explain better or help more:

Wire color or configuration is not "that" important, but location of the wire on the switch terminal or the component that the wire supplies is.

First, install the jumper wire from P1 to S1 terminals on new switch

Red wire(single) on terminal 4 on old switch should be on terminal 2 on new switch and terminates at burner sensor circuit.

Red wire(dual) on terminal 5 on old switch should be on terminal P2 on new switch and will terminate at terminal block and jump over to the next infinite switch.(two directions).

Black wire (single) on terminal 1 of old switch should be on S2 terminal on new switch and terminate at indicator light.

Black wire(dual) on terminal 2 on old switch should be on P1 terminal on new switch(beside jumper wire connection) and terminate at terminal block and jump to the next infinite switch(two directions).

Brown wire terminal 3 on old switch should be on terminal 4 on new switch and terminate at outside burner element terminal on burner.

Yellow wire terminal 6 on old switch should be on terminal 4A on new switch and terminate at inside burner element terminal on burner.

Test burner operation, low and hi settings and re assemble the unit.

Good Luck,

Default Saved $1800!!

I had the exact same cooktop and problem with the duel switch. I'm not an electrician and had already ordered a replacement stove. I just followed the directions listed and everthing turned out perfect. Cancelled the new stove and saved $1800!!!

Gulicio, The part number for the dual element infinite switch is

Part number: AP4008679

Part number: AP4008679

The switch also has a wiring instruction sheet, but if you have any wiring issues there are plenty or posts in the Repair Forum to help you out.
