I recently purchased a part for my range after the oven stopped working. I spent $170 on AP2995675 (9751895) Console, glass (black & stn.mdl).

When I installed it initially, I plugged the wire next to the chassis ground into the wrong L1 (P4 instead of P5, I think). When it didn't work, I swapped them and everything was OK. I was able to bake, but now it won't even get the heating element that ignites the gas to glow. The console accepts the input and the display shows "low". I also hear a fan-like noise, but no heat.

The top burners (gas) are fine and the broiler (which I think is electric, not gas)works. But now the oven won't heat again.

Any ideas?

Does anybody know how to fix (or diagnose) this problem?

Sounds like the ignitor is out.

Could it be a coincidence that the ignitor went out right after I got the oven working using the new control panel? Maybe I didn't connect a wire properly?

To test it I would take the broil ignitor out and put it where the oven ignitor is(they are the same) if it lights the replace it with part # 9753108 or AP#AP3008600

OK, I removed the two screws that attach the ignitor to the base of the burner, and as soon as I touched the ceramic element inside the metal housing, it cracked right off with very little pressure. So, even if that wasn't the problem, I know one thing for sure - it is now!!
I'm getting a new one, but how does it connect? The wires lead through a hole to the back of the unit and I'm not real crazy about tearing the whole thing apart to get at the wire ends. Could I just snip the wires right at the base of the ignitor and re-connect them with the new one using wire nuts and then stuff it all back through that hole?
Thanks agin for all the help!

I posted full directions just the other day (guess I need to make a file....lol) The best way is to have an extra set of hands to help. Remove the back panel. locate the ignitor wires and clip them inside the oven, attache the new ignitor and pull thru to back, then hook thewires up correctly and mount the ignitor inside.

PS if the ignitor crumbled with just moving it a bit, that was definately your problem, just don't touch the ceramic part with bare hands the oil from your skin can damage them

Well, the ignitor it was. I purchased a new one, pulled the wires and it fired right up. Thanks so much for your patience and assistance!

But, in the true tradition of a do-it-yourselfer, in the nearly 2 weeks since I started this whole thing, I've lost the two mounting screws that attach each side of the control panel to the range, as well as the three smaller screws that fasten the control panel from the bottom. The side screws are silver, about an inch long, and the bottom screws black, about 1/4 inch. I would think I could get those from Home Depot, but it would help if I knew their specs. Is there any place I could find that information online? Thanks again
