Default Bottom Element Burned in half
Model Number: MER6751AAb   Brand: Maytag   Age: 5 - 10 years

Turned on the lower oven and noticed it would not heat up past 125. When I looked at the elements, I noticed that the lower element was burned apart with about a 1/2" gap on the left side. It looks like that one spot just got really hot and melted. When I touched it, part of the burner actually broke off. It's about a three inch section. So there aparantely were two hot spots.
Should I just replace the element (AP4094020) or is there something I should check to be sure this wasn't caused by the control board first?

It will not have been caused by the control board.

There is a possibility that when it burned out (arced and sparked) it damaged the control board but you will not know this till you replace the element.
