my telescoping downdraft vent GE (JVB 94) is not working -no sound ,no signal
and the vent is not going up and down ( the up/down switch is not response at all).
it looks the vent top is completely fitted to the bottom and
I can pull up the vent by hand but not stay .
looks like no power at all.
Checked the electric power from the wall , it is o.k .
Which part do I have to check ??

main switch / fuse? If there is power coming out of the wall, check the diodes on the control.

Mine is jvb94sh1ss. There are is a small circuit inside the box under. In there you will see two diodes : rectifier and zener. Use an ohmmeter to test those two. both ends should have a resistance. If none (zero reading), try swapping the probes of ohmmeter. If it is still open, then it is bad.

I got the parts from Radioshack. The SKUs are 276-1103 and 276-563. The diode ids are 1N4004 and 1NT4742A.

Good luck!
