Oven turns on, heats but doesn't appear to turn completely off.
Model Number: WGE30302 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years
I was given an older stove last night, and in the process of setting it up I noticed that one of the large burners doesn't appear to heat up. I have tried the element in one of the other recepticles and it works....so can I assume that it is he recepticle in that opening that needs replacing?
The problem is more the oven. It turns on and heat fine. When I attempt to turn it off, you hear the "click" around the C/F symbol, but the light remains on until I manually bring the knob to the OFF marking. Since there is no actual "click" at the OFF mark, I can continue going left towards the BROIL marking and it stops at a click, but the power light remains on, albeit ever so faintly. When I woke up this morning, the oven is still overly warm. What could be the problem?
Just a note: I have played around with the control for the last hour or so and just after writing this post, i checked the oven again and the power light seemed to off and the elements where cooling off. I just went to leave the kitchen, and since I had just cleaned the oven last night, I could smell that distinct "hot" smell of the oven right after been cleaned. Sure enough, the elements obviously turn on spontaneously and are burning hot. No wonder the oven was warm this morning.
Again, any assistance would be appreciated.
