I purchased from here a new oven door handle for my MER57754 Range. My old handle had some kind of metal inserts made into the handle itself. Screws went through the inside of the door to these inserts. These inserts broke off with use. So I purchased the new handle. The new handle is like my old handle minus the inserts. Also it is all plastic unlike the old one. I called customer service and tried to explain what I need. She said the manufacturer redesigned the handle. On the drawings it looks like the door was redesigned also. She said there were screws available for the handle - part no. AP4095778. The holes to mount the handle that I received have no threads. The lady I talked to did not know what kind of screws these are. So I guess my main question is :How do I mount this handle? Do I use metal or wood screws and if so what size? I really do not want to pay $2.37 for the screws and $6.95 for S&H when I may have what I need in my junk box or can get at my local hardware. I also do not want to destroy my new handle. Thanks.

I would remove the oven door from the oven first as instructed in the Service manual (page 26) and put it on a flat surface with the front facing down. Start to disassemble the door from removing the inner liner and you should find all answers.

I know how to get the door off and disassemble it. My question was:
My new handle does not have the threaded metal inserts embedded. Also the mounting holes in the new handle, though they do match up, are not threaded. So how do I mount my handle? Do I use self threading screws? Or is there a piece missing?
