I have a Jenn Air model s160 that I purchased a new cartridge for the right side with the 2 burners as the older connections in the burners had burned out (not sure why). Anyhow purchased the new cartridge and put it in but they still don't work. The burner light on the front comes on but nothing. Could it be the white female plug that it plugs in to or something else? Help, tired of using one side and don't want to by another range.

Does your new cartridge have the same number of contacts(spades), and are they in the same location as the original cartridge ?

Do you have a meter, to insert into the receptacle in the bay, so you can check for voltage to the cartridge ?

Some newer cartridges will not work in older ranges, you may need to convert the cartridge, to make it work.

You may also have weak or loose terminals in the range receptacle.

A quick, easy check is to install the cartridge from the left bay into the right bay and see if it works.

If it works, the problem is in the cartridge.

If it does not work, problem is in the receptacle.

At least, that way we have a starting point to work from.

:) :) :)

Thanks Joe. The plugs are the same. I have switched the cartridges and the left does not work in the right bay. Had not thought of using a meter to see if there is a current. I will check.

OK, we're on our way

At the receptacle you have 4 slots and 1 round opening.

going from left to right number them 1 2 3 4 5 .

No.3 is ground(round opening) and 5 has no voltage.

Turn on both switches to high setting

Check for 120 volts from slots 1 2 4 to chassis ground or no.3 receptacle.

Check for 240 volts from slot 1 to slot 4(rear burner).
Check for 240 volts from slot 2 to slot 4(front burner).

Hope this information helps, you should be able to determine which switch or wire is damaged or broken from there.

Good luck !:) :)

I have the same issue. I checked the ports and one and two show 120v each. The cartridge will not light. Slot four show no voltage.
What might the issue be?
thank you
