My 14 year old Thermador cooktop gas Grill and Griddle is burning rich when I turn it on high the flames are orange-yellow which creates a black soot. I have changed out my ignitor-burner after reading the forum about how it controls the flow of gas and still burns rich. I,ve opened the venturi valve to let more air get to the tube but it doesn't make a difference. I don't want to get rid of this cooktop because it has perform well for me for all this years.

We don't work on too many of these types but you may want to turn the venturi valve down to decrease the air. It maybe getting too much air thus causeing orange/yellow flames.

I have turned the venturi valve down also and it still causes orange/yellow flames. I,ve cleaned the gas tube out thinking it was clogged and that didn't work either so I,m wondering if it's the saftey valve outlet thats defective.

How do the regular burners burn, blue or orange?

My regular burners burn blue flames it's just my grill and griddle flames that are burning rich.
