This gas stove, a GE, wife shouted," I cannot tun this broiler off!" It would not turn off-I turned the broiler knob to OFF-it would not respond-I turned it to the ON position-to the LEFT-counterclockwise-it turned off-the glowblock went off too...Now, the knob is on correctly (not off center)
Again, when turned to OFF clockwise position, the glow block and the gas come on and it lights the broiler-THIS IS DANGEROUS-I cut the gas off at main line-THERE ARE TWO OTHER POSTS ON OTHER SITES saying HELP! I cannot turn off my broiler-one says their broiler comes ON unexpectedly, anytime! GE doesn't want to talk about it....
there is something dangerously fishy here....

Remove the oven thermostat knob and check for a crack inside.

If the knob is fine, replace the oven thermostat.

If you need the correct part number for the knob, post the color of it.
