On most modern day ERC's(electronic range control) an F7 code would indicate a malfunctioning touch panel.

I cannot be sure, without a proper model number, but the situation and description leads me to belive so.

There is an outside chance that the control board could be at fault, but don't start there.

I don't believe cleaning the key pad ribbon connector will solve the problem, but you may want to attempt cleaning the ribbon ends and contacts at the control board with non residue electric contact cleaner available at electronic supply companies(radio shack and similar distributors)first.
