We turned on the oven the other day and it make a "pop" sound then black smoke came up from back behind the oven. Since then, we haven't been able to get any heat out of it from any setting (convection, regular bake, broil, or self-clean). The stove top (range elements) work though.
We opened the back panel and see that there is some burned insulation around a few of the different components. We don't know however which to change because we haven't looked back there previously to know if any were burned before this "explosion".
Could you help me know what parts to get?
Thanks!
Kam

Kam You will need to supply a complete and proper model number for proper, efficient assistance. At this point I believe you have a shorted heating element and or burnt wire(s) to the same. You will need to remove the back panel and move insulation and wires to visually see any damage.Trace the wires back to anny component they attach to and see if that component may be damaged as well. If you should need further assistance please contact us with a complete model number

It's a Kenmore Elite Model 790.9912
Does that help?
We can see burnt insulation spots on the back in various spots. How would we know if a specific component is bad?

Your model number is still not complete (4 numbers missing) but it is an electric range with the numbers you were able to supply. You may need to remove all the insulation(carefully) and or move the insulation around the components(burnt areas). I would prefer you remove all the insulation for better access and investigation purposes.
