Model Number: fgf379wecs Brand: Frigidaire Age: 1 - 5 years
The outer door glass has broken.
Once I get the replacement part, how do I replace? I looked at the exploded diagram and see that 2 screws attached the front at the bottom, 1 at the top and 4 screws from the inside ( including the handles screws)- so that is straight forward. I notice that the old glass has portions which are marked "tape". and that there are 2 X 1" by 1" small foam blacks on the bottom of the glass. What do I do here? Thanks, Mike |

See diagram below...
Put a thick towel on the counter (or table). Remove the door from its hinges and set it on the towel. Be careful not to damage anything, especially glass and door handle. Remove the door handle (#10 screws). Remove the bottom screws that hold #4 outer panel to #9 inner door panel. You can then set the outer panel aside. Collect broken glass pieces if any and install the new glass. Set the outer panel back on, and repeat the other steps in reverse. That's about it. Let us know how it goes... ![]() |

Thanks, I now have the door apart, no problems there, but...
I notice that the new glass has portions which are marked "tape". and that there are 2 X 1" by 1" X 1/4" thick small foam blocks on the bottom of the glass. What do I do here? I suppose I can find some weatherstrip type stuff at the hardware store, does this go on the inside or the out side of the glass....or both sides? Thanks, Mike |

Numbers 14 and 14a are aluminum foil/tape peices. That's all I can see. Don't use any weatherstrip type material - it's not hi temp resistant. The whole purpose of the aluminum tape is to reflect heat back to the oven.
The tape is somewhat expensive: - #14 - #14a I'm assuming that the foam blocks serve as padding between the glass and #6 panel. Hope this helps. |
