Model Number: KERC500YBL1 Brand: Kitchen Aid Age: 5 - 10 years
As some others have mentioned here, I have a burner on my KitchenAid that won't turn off. I have identified the infinity switch that needs to be replaced, and have found a store to send me the part. But I can't find a diagram to show me how to get to the switch to replace it without breaking something. Can someone help?

To remove the control panel for access to the infinite burner switch on the Kitchenaid KERC506HWH3 model;
1) Turn off power to stove/oven at the breaker. Verify by making sure clock display is off, and try turning on functioning burner. 2) On top of panel there is a plastic shield covering the flourescent light tube. Lift shield and remove light tube by rotating it 90 - 110 degrees. 3) Remove two silver screws that were hidden by light tube. 4) Grab both ends of the plastic control panel a wiggle it while lifting and pulling away from metal back panel. If the control panel will not hing forward, remove plastic shield that covered light tube. 5) Remove infinite switch control knob and two screws holding infinite switch in place. 6) Push infinite switch control through the panel and verify it is the same as you ordered. 7) Remove one wire at a time and connect wire to new switch before removing next wire and so on. The easiest way to disconnect or remove wires is to get a small diameter rigid wire or finish nail and push the locking pin each wire connector has. Otherwise you make break the connector off the wire just pulling on it. |
