Model Number: JVM3670sk02 Brand: GE Age: 1 - 5 years
Microwave lights up, etc. but does not heat. Makes a "strange" sound.
I'm quite sure that the magnetron is to blame, but I want to make sure that I purchase any other parts; if absolutley necessary. I have seen post/replies regarding a Capacitor and/or Diode (but these are often more resilient and I would assume not need replacing). Thank you. Ads By Google Related Models |

Why are you so sure it's the megnetron that is bad?
Are you even sure it's a problem on the high voltage side? I replace far more high voltage diodes then I do megnetrons on microwaves that run, but do not heat and make a funny noise. Diodes are many times cheaper and easier to replace then megnetrons too.

Thanks for the feedback. I never thought that a diode could cause the problem. Should I just take ohm readings to verify that the diode is good/bad? Not sure what the procedure is...
Are the only two possible "culprits" to non-heating the diode and/or magnetron? Is there anything else to consider? |
