Brand: GE Age: More than 10 years
This is an old built in warhorse that we try to keep going. Latest problem was manifested by burning odor and sparking in control bay. After pulling it out I have found a burnt component that I cannot identify. Approximately 1/2 inch diameter, about 1 1/4 inches long, a metal cylinder with a cardboard sleeve. three leads coming out, thick red, thick black, thinner white. the part has the following imprinting: GE WB27X5072 7752 SC260D8.
Quite a few components seem to begin with WB27X in this unit, so this might be a model number indicator; speaking of model number I cannot find one on the unit anywhere. The part is fried, it appeared to be affixed to the top of the larger transformer in the unit but I may be misinterpreting some melted insulation. Of the three leads one at least goes to the smaller transformer... Any help appreciated ! Terrh |

Hi Terrh,
This part (part number WB27X5072) calls "triac" and is no longer available. Gene.
