I placed a metal cookie sheet in my above the stove microwave & burned a spot in the back. It's more than just a surface burn. The white inner shell is damaged. It's not like I can see the wall behind the microwave as there is something there but the case is definitely damaged. Is this still safe to use since it's in the back? Can "waves" leak into through the wall into the room behind the microwave? Do I need to purchase a new microwave?
Thank you!!! |

If there is a hole through the cavity, and the hole is bigger than the holes you see in the door, then yes it will leak "microwaves" into the room, not to mention will probably start arcing at that point causing a fire hazard. I think I would get a new oven.

The metal you are seeing through the hole is the back of the microwave outer case, If you can see that, your micro is no good
