Default Handle Replacement
Model Number: JVM1339   Brand: GE   Age: 1 - 5 years

Door handle broke at the upper screw holder and I can't figure how to get at the lower screw to replace it. Upper screw is in plain sight but lower screw is in the door.

Hi Tim,

Check out this door frame diagram, specifically number 1805. It clips on to the door frame. Remove it using a dull table knife or something similar (be careful not to scratch or break anything). You will then have access to the bottom screw.

Let us know how it works out.

Mark, please double check that model number. It doesn't come up at all. I've tried multiple variations (O=0, 1=I, etc). Post it here and I'll take a look.

Does anyone know how to replace the door handle on a Whirlpool microwave? There are 3 screws on the side but they don't loosen anything?

Perkis,

You'd have to remove the inner frame (#2 on this diagram), just like I described it for Tim at the beginning of this thread.

On the whilrpool there are tabs inside that go all around, is there some easy way of removing this other than with a dull knife. This does not work.

Not that I know of. The plastic inner frame is fragile, but still pretty flexible.

Default KitchenAid Door Handle

I have model Kitchen Aid KHHS179LSS and the handle broke off this morning. The plastice where the screws were screwed into broke. I have found the part on your site, but need help in replacing it. Do I only have to take a back frame off and then I will have access to the screws? Please help. Thanks!!!!
